The Coolest Timepieces Of Only Watch 2021, Part II

In the previous eight editions of Only Watch, a total of 70 million euros was raised to support the fight against Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. This plays a vital role in finding a cure for this terrible disease. For watch brands, it is an opportunity to do good and showcase their abilities. This works two ways, as it results in truly unique watches that are so tempting that they will only raise more money for the cause. Yesterday we showed you already some of our favorites, and today we do that again, as also the following ones are too good to pass up:

The Coolest Timepieces Of Only Watch 2021, Part I

What started in 2005 has grown to become one of the most epic biennial events in the world of watchmaking. As an initiative of Luc Pettavino, leading watch brands create every two years a piece unique, which they donate to Only Watch to help the fight against Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. These watches are auctioned, offering collectsors a unique opportunity to obtain a very rare timepiece while supporting this amazing cause. This year the 9th edition is taking place, and no less than 53 lots will be auctioned. These are some of our favorites:

Richard Mille Dives Into The Deep Blue With Arnaud Jerald

With Arnaud Jerald, Richard Mille is welcoming the youngest two-time world record holder in free diving to its family of ambassadors. While being only 25 years old, Jerald is one of the most promising talents in this sport. Diving without air, he reached an incredible depth of 112 meters last year in Greece. Freediving is as much about physical fitness as it is about mental attitude. You have to be very focused, yet at the same time become one with the ocean. It opens up a world few people get to experience fo freely and quietly. A wetsuit, a set of flippers, and a nose clip are all you need to free dive, but a watch can be an essential addition in terms of safety.

Grand Seiko Captures The Beauty Of The Night Sky In New Limited Edition

The watchmakers of Grand Seiko's Micro Artist Studio in Shiojiri have created yet another masterpiece to celebrate Seiko's 140th anniversary. Named SBGZ007, it does remind of the SBGZ001, mainly thanks to its textured case made of platinum. The texture itself is, however, quite different. The artisans of Grand Seiko took inspiration from the night sky over their manufacture and decorated the Zaratsu polished case with a star-like pattern. This further highlights the slim and elegant profile of the case, which has a diameter of 38.5mm and is only 9.8mm thick.

Hublot Takes MP-09 To The Next Level With 3D Carbon Case In Color

The MP-09 has always been an imposing watch within the collectsion of Hublot. It was the brand's first bi-axis tourbillon, which gets center stage thanks to the uniquely shaped case that follows the curve of the wrist. This alone makes the MP-09 a masterpiece, as crafting all the different angles is highly complex. Initially, the model was launched in King Gold, black 3D Carbon, and titanium. Now, Hublot is launching an additional four different versions, all in colored 3D Carbon.

Lewis Hamilton And IWC Team Up For Big Pilot’s Watch Campaign

Having an ambassador is nothing new. Most of the major watch brands have one or more. However, having an ambassador with a sincere personal passion for the watch brand they represent is rare. Seven-time FIA Formula One World Drivers' Champion Lewis Hamilton teamed up with IWC in 2013 and hasn't hidden his passion for the brand from Schaffhausen in both his professional as well as his personal life since. He seems to have a particular preference for their (Big) Pilot's collectsion, even owning custom versions. That also makes him perfect to be the star in the new global advertising campaign.

Four Watches For Fathers Day

It is almost Fathers Day again, that time of the year to surprise dad with something special to show our appreciation for all he has done and is still doing. The most precious gift is the time we spend together with him. However, to also give him a constant reminder of how you value him when you cannot be together, a watch might be an appropriate gift. Such as one of the following four:

Haute Complication: A. Lange & Söhne Lange 1 Perpetual Calendar

Within the collectsion of A. Lange & Söhne, the Lange 1 holds a unique position. After being introduced 27 years ago, it quickly became almost synonymous with the brand. With its prominent case and asymmetrical dial, it also quickly achieved the status of an icon. Not surprisingly, as it combines its good looks with a superb movement, both in design, execution, as well as finish. What might come as a surprise is that the Lange 1 was never available with just a perpetual calendar but always combined it with other complications. With the Lange 1 Perpetual Calendar, this all changes and brings A. Lange & Söhne this complication in its purest form to its signature collectsion.
