The American 1921 is without a doubt one of the most charismatic watches ever made. With its square case, the crown on the top left corner, and a dial turned half a quarter to the left, it is unlike any other watch. Like no other timepiece, it represents the Roaring Twenties yet hasn't lost any of its appeal a century later. To mark this unique anniversary, Vacheron Constantin has taken upon itself to make a faithful recreation of the original American 1921. The brand only made 24 of them in their year of launch, of which one resides in Vacheron Constantin's private collectsion.

For over 17 years, IWC has enjoyed a very fruitful partnership with Mercedes-AMG. One of the reasons they work so well together is because the DNA of both companies is so aligned. Gemstone set Daytona's made from precious metal are nothing new today, but in the 1980s, it was quite trailblazing for Rolex to offer its sports models in such a configuration. When you like that, it doesn't get much better than this Ref. 6269 "Le Hibou Grand-Duc." Made for the French market, it features on the caseback the French import marks and Rolex France's logo. Its name, meaning "the owl Grand Duke" is also inspired by the image shown in the French import mark.

For decades Jaeger-LeCoultre has been known as the watchmakers' watchmaker. The reason behind this is that its movements, and they have made over 1200 different calibers to date, are so good that they also supplied them to some of the greatest names in the watchworld, such as Cartier, Audemars Piguet, and Van Cleef & Arpels. One field in which they excel in particular is that of grande complications. In this, Jaeger-LeCoultre likes to challenge itself, as they did this year with the Reverso Hybris Mechanica Calibre 185.

When you say Zenith to a watch enthusiast, he or she cannot help but immediately think of El Primero. This automatic chronograph movement was groundbreaking when launched in 1969, but as Zenith has continued developing it, it is still as enticing today. Because of that is has become one of the gold standards for chronograph movements. It was even for years good enough for Rolex to power its iconic Daytona before they developed a chronograph movement of its own. Earlier this year, Zenith launched the new Chronomaster Sport, a watch that seems to go head-to-head with exactly the Daytona. Until now, it was only available in stainless steel, but that changes with the launch of the pink gold model.

Hublot has quite a reputation to uphold when it comes to supporting great causes with exclusive limited editions. They continue this tradition by renewing their commitment to SORAI - Save Our Rhino Africa India. This great cause, founded by Kevin Pietersen, is committed to protecting the rhino population. This is unfortunately much needed as the rhino is well on its way towards extinction. SORAI helps by supporting Care for Wild, the largest rhino sanctuary in the world, focusing on rescuing, rehabilitating, and releasing rhinos orphaned by poaching.

Jimmy Butler is a man who needs no introduction. The highly successful basketball player made quite a name for himself over the years. MB&F is a brand that is mainly known for its "Horological Machines" that like to explore and preferably push back the boundaries of watchmaking. Among them, the LM101 holds a special place, as it might be the most common-looking watch in MB&F its collectsion. The reason for this is the conventional round case, as well as the modest diameter of 40mm. Nevertheless, was the watch quickly embraced by MB&F enthusiasts and collectsors and became another triumph for the company. Now MB&F is launching three new editions of the LM101 to continue its success story.

At Hublot, the colors seem to become ever more vibrant in regard to their ceramic models. With the launch of the Big Bang Unico Yellow Magic, the brand has proven that it can also produce this primary color in the challenging material that ceramic is. As ceramic is made at very high temperatures, most color pigments tend to burn up. That is why for decades, only white and black could be produced. Hublot was the first to introduce more vibrant colors in 2018, thanks to a newly developed process to create ceramics under pressure at lower temperatures.

The Freak X is a watch that already makes a powerful visual impact. With part of its gear train placed on the dial side, accompanied by a high-tech flying carrousel, is it a true horological delicacy that won't go unnoticed. With the new Freak X Razzle Dazzle makes Ulysse Nardin the watch, even more, an eyecatcher. The pattern is reminiscent of that of zebra's, who use it to conceal themselves and confuse their predators. Especially in World War I, the British Royal Navy painted their ships with a similar pattern, hoping to confuse enemy ships to such extent that it was hard(er) for them to place a hit. It later on also became quite a popular pattern within the art scene.

There is no denying it, green-colored dials is one of the hottest trends in watchmaking. During Watches & Wonders earlier this year, we already saw this color taking the lead. Glashütte Original is now launching their PanoMaticLunar also in this color scheme. For the brand, the choice for green is a natural one, as their manufacture in Glashütte is surrounded by dense forest. On the dial, they captured all the different hues that the leaves can have, from vibrant green at the center to close to black on the edges.
